Sealants
As frequently as you might brush and floss your teeth, hard-to-remove plaque and food can still get captured in the deep grooves of teeth’s chewing surfaces. These spaces are difficult to keep clean. As a result, dentists use sealant to fill in the grooves, making it nearly impossible for cavities to form.
Made from a plastic material, sealants are used on your molars’ chewing surface, guarding the grooves from the acids and plaques which get caught and cause cavities. It only takes minutes to paint on the sealant, which effectively sticks to your tooth.
Sealants are appropriate for both adults and children, and at our Somerset, New Jersey office, they may be recommended by your dentist to help prevent cavities.
